Chicago Defender Reports on Freddi Wilson

The Chicago Defender recently reported on Romanucci & Blandin's latest effort to restore some common sense to the City of Chicago and its police department:

The oldest child of a West Side man, who was killed after Chicago police officers shot him multiple times earlier this month, filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the department. Wisconsin resident Angela Jadoo, the mother of Freddie Wilson's 13-year-old son, filed the suit Monday in the Circuit Court of Cook County alleging that the police acted with little regard of Wilson's life and violated his civil rights.

Lawsuit Filed Against Chicago Police Department

A Petition was filed today in the Circuit Court of Cook County against the Chicago Police Department by the eldest son of the late rapper Freddie Wilson, who was shot and killed by police on November 13, 2007 (case no. 2007 P 008169).

The plaintiff ― Wilson’s eldest child, a 13-year-old son who resides with his mother in Madison, Wis. ― is represented by the Chicago law firm of Romanucci & Blandin, LLC. Antonio M. Romanucci, a principal in the firm, said that his client is seeking unnamed monetary damages which may include punitive damages.

Traumatic Brain Injury and High School Athletes

Concussions are on the rise among high school athletes and girls are especially vulnerable to the injury, which can cause serious damage as reported by the Chicago Sun Times.

Research to be published next month in the Journal of Athletic Training suggests that unlike other sports-related injuries, concussions are on the rise among high school athletes. Girls appear to be especially vulnerable, logging higher concussion rates than boys in sports played by both sexes.

Researchers at Ohio State and Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, analyzed injuries among U.S. high school athletes participating in nine sports: boys' football, soccer, basketball, baseball and wrestling, and girls' soccer, basketball, volleyball and softball. They estimate that in the 2005-06 academic year, high school athletes suffered 135,901 concussions -- or 9 percent of all sports-related injuries
